CHANCE BROTHERS MARBLE & TILE establishment can be traced back to the influence of Elmer Chance Sr. He worked at Edgewood Marble & Tile for over 10 years in the 1930s as a tile setter. Elmer instilled a strong work ethic in his two sons, Dave and Elmer Jr. The two boys grew up during the Great Depression. They remember not having much as kids with a kind of nostalgia, but this only drove them to work hard in starting our company in Indianapolis, Indiana.
A Change Of Hands
Dave Chance Sr. was a hardworking and outstanding tile mechanic like his dad. He served Wege Marble and Tile for over 10 years until the owners were ready to retire. They gave Dave the chance to take over the business. Dave and Elmer Jr. started this company out of Dave's garage back in 1969. The pair started as tile installers, placing ceramic tile in homes.
Moving Into New Digs
In 1971, the company had outgrown the garage and moved into the old city morgue. This was quite an interesting place for a tile company, but we're not your typical tile company. The city had plans for the new land and asked the brothers if they would move to the corner of Illinois and McCarty Street. Our founders gladly accepted the offer. In 1979, they built the warehouse that now houses the stone fabrication shop. Dave Sr. also had two boys who worked for him in the field and helping with estimates.
A Long-Lived Company
Dave Jr. and Tim took over the business in 1987. They inherited the same work ethic that made their father, Dave Sr., so successful. The future in the commercial flooring market and granite fabrication looks bright for our company. Some of the most respected general contractors continue to use us for the fair pricing and honest workmanship we provide. Homeowners continually praise the unbelievable difference our granite work makes in their kitchens and bathrooms.
